Short answer: every licensed live TV service in the US can be bought for a single month. None of them requires a contract, all of them let you cancel online, and when you cancel you keep watching until the paid month runs out. The right one-month pick depends on why you need it: Fox One ($19.99) for the World Series, ESPN Unlimited ($31.99) for a month of college football or NBA, Sling Blue ($45.99) for cable news around an election, and YouTube TV ($82.99) when a visitor wants everything.

At a glance

One month, no contract

Contracts None on any licensed streaming service
After cancelling Access runs to the end of the paid month
Partial-month refunds Generally not given
Cheapest full bundle Sling Orange, $45.99
Shorter than a month Sling passes: $4.99 a day, $14.99 a week

Every service you can buy for one month

US prices as of October 2026, before tax. All of these bill monthly, with no minimum term.

Service One month Free trial Best for
Hulu + Live TV $99.99 ($49.99 first-month offer to Oct 26) 3 days Bundle with Disney+ and ESPN
DirecTV Stream Entertainment $89.99 5 days Regional sports in some markets
Fubo Pro $88.99 plus regional sports fee 7 days Local NBA and NHL teams
YouTube TV Base $82.99 Yes; length varies by offer Everything in one app
Sling Orange or Blue $45.99 (Blue varies by ZIP) None; first month often discounted Cheap ESPN or cable news
ESPN Unlimited $31.99 None advertised All ESPN networks, no bundle
Philo Essential $25.00 7 days Entertainment and lifestyle channels
Fox One $19.99 7 days Fox sports, Fox News, Fox locals
Peacock Premium $12.99 None standard NBC sports and Sunday Night Football
Frndly TV Basic $8.99 7 days Hallmark and classic TV

Philo, Fox One and Frndly TV are notable because a seven-day free trial plus three weeks of paid time effectively gives you a month for the price of one bill, if you start the trial on the right day.

How cancelling works, service by service

The mechanics are almost identical everywhere, which is good news for one-month buyers.

Where to cancel. On the service's website or app, in the account or billing section. YouTube TV, Hulu, Fubo, Sling, DirecTV Stream, Philo and Frndly all allow online cancellation without a phone call.

When access ends. At the end of the billing period you've already paid for. Cancel on day three and you still have the remaining 27 days.

Refunds. Partial-month refunds are generally not offered. That's why cancelling early in the month costs you nothing: you've already paid, and you keep the access.

App-store billing. If you subscribed through Apple, Google Play, Roku or Amazon, you have to cancel through that store's subscription settings. Deleting the app doesn't cancel anything.

Free trials. On services with a trial, cancelling during the trial usually ends access immediately or at the trial's end, and you won't be charged. Check which applies when you cancel, because some services end trial access straight away.

Rejoining. Your account normally stays, so you can come back later. Recordings in the cloud DVR are usually lost, and new-subscriber offers may not apply.

Best picks for a one-month need

The World Series (late October). Fox has the World Series. An antenna picks up your local Fox station for free; if reception is poor, Fox One at $19.99 streams it, and its 7-day trial may cover a short series. Pick Fox One if you also want Fox's college football and NFL that month. Skip it if an antenna works where you live.

Election night and the week after (early November). ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox cover results on broadcast, and the networks' free streaming news channels carry live coverage too. For a month of cable news, Sling Blue ($45.99) carries the main cable news networks without the cost of a full bundle. Pick Sling Blue if you want CNN-style cable coverage for a few weeks. Skip it if the free streaming news channels are enough.

A month of college football or the NBA's opening weeks. ESPN Unlimited at $31.99 carries every ESPN network without a bundle. Add an antenna for ABC games. Pick it if ESPN is the only cable network you want. Skip it if your team's games are on a regional sports network.

A relative visiting for the holidays. If they want "normal TV" with locals, news and the channels they know, one month of YouTube TV is the least confusing choice. It has a familiar guide, works on almost every device and allows several people to have their own profiles. For a visitor who mostly wants Hallmark and classic shows, Frndly TV at $8.99 is a far cheaper answer.

A local team's playoff run. Fubo carries more regional sports networks than most rivals. One month, plus the regional sports fee in your area, covers a playoff stretch.

Timing your month so it covers the event

A month runs from the day you're first charged, not the calendar month. Three timing tricks make one bill go further:

Start the trial before the paid month. On a service with a 7-day trial, starting a week before your event means the paid month begins on the event's first day, so you get roughly five weeks for one charge.

Don't start too early. Signing up "to be ready" two weeks early wastes two weeks of your only month.

Consider a pass instead. For a single game or a long weekend, Sling's passes cost $4.99 for 24 hours, $9.99 for three days and $14.99 for seven days, and they don't renew. That's cheaper than any month if your need is short.

Not ready to commit? Sling has no contract: pay month to month and cancel online anytime.

Which month to buy, October to December 2026

If you only intend to pay for one month this autumn, the calendar decides which one. Here's how the rest of 2026 lines up for a one-month buyer, with the cheapest licensed way to cover each stretch.

Window What's on Cheapest licensed month
Late October World Series, NBA and NHL openers, college football Antenna plus Fox One ($19.99) or ESPN Unlimited ($31.99)
Early November Election coverage, NFL midseason Free network news streams, or Sling Blue ($45.99)
Late November Thanksgiving NFL, college rivalry week Antenna for network games, plus ESPN Unlimited
December Conference title games, bowls, holiday movies, visiting family YouTube TV ($82.99) for everyone, or Frndly TV ($8.99) for Hallmark

The thread running through all four rows: an antenna does a lot of the work. Most NFL games, the World Series and election-night network coverage are all on broadcast TV, so the month you pay for only needs to fill the gaps. If you buy one month this autumn and nothing else, December gives a household the most for its money, because it stacks football, family visits and seasonal programming into the same billing period.

Four ways a single month goes wrong

  1. Forgetting to cancel. The commonest one. Cancel the day you sign up if the service keeps access to the end of the period, which most do for paid months.
  2. Missing locals. Not every service carries every local station in every market. Check your ZIP code on the service's channel page before paying.
  3. Regional sports fees. Fubo and DirecTV Stream can add a monthly fee in some markets, up to $15.99 on Fubo in 2026.
  4. Too few streams. Sling Orange allows one stream at a time. If a visiting family will watch on two TVs, that matters.

Spotting a "1 month" offer that isn't licensed

Search results for this keyword are crowded with sellers offering a month of "20,000 channels" for $10 to $15. Licensed bundles with major sports networks cost $45 to $100 a month in 2026, because the channel owners get paid per subscriber. A month of everything for $15 means someone isn't being paid.

Other giveaways: payment by crypto, gift cards or through WhatsApp; no app in the official stores; a playlist URL or "activation code" instead of an account; and longer "lifetime" packages. Licensed services give you a receipt, a cancellation page and a channel list for your area.

Our pick

Best all-round one-month buy: YouTube TV. It's the easiest for a household or a visitor to use, it carries locals in most markets, and cancelling is a two-minute job online.

Best for a single sport: ESPN Unlimited for ESPN events, Fox One for Fox events, and an antenna first in both cases.

Best for less than a month: a Sling pass, which can't auto-renew.

Quick answers

Can I subscribe to live TV for just one month? Yes. Every licensed US live TV service bills monthly with no contract, so you can subscribe once and cancel straight away while keeping the month you've paid for.

Do I get a refund if I cancel mid-month? Generally no. Services don't refund partial months, but your access continues until the end of the billing period.

What's the cheapest one-month live TV subscription? Frndly TV Basic at $8.99, for entertainment channels. The cheapest service with ESPN is Sling Orange at $45.99, or ESPN Unlimited at $31.99 on its own.

Which service is best for one month of the World Series? Fox carries it, so an antenna is free. Fox One at $19.99 streams it with a 7-day trial for new subscribers.

How do I cancel if I signed up on my Roku or iPhone? Through Roku's or Apple's subscription settings, not the service's website. Deleting the app doesn't cancel billing.

Is there anything shorter than a month? Sling sells one-time passes: $4.99 for 24 hours, $9.99 for three days and $14.99 for a week. They don't renew.

Are $10 one-month IPTV subscriptions legal? Not when they include thousands of channels and premium sports. Licensed bundles with sports networks cost $45 or more a month.

Prices are US list prices before tax and regional fees. Trial lengths and first-month offers vary by account, device and date, and cancellation terms can differ when you subscribe through an app store. Check the service's own help pages before relying on a specific policy. Checked October 2026.
