Short answer: no US subscription gives you every channel in 4K, and anyone who promises "hundreds of 4K channels" is not selling a licensed service. What you can buy in fall 2026 is 4K on selected live sports: YouTube TV with its 4K Plus add-on ($9.99 a month on top of $82.99), Fubo (4K on select events, no add-on), Fox One for FOX's 4K games, and DirecTV on its own Gemini box. Most of those games are produced in 1080p HDR and upconverted, so they look better than HD but not like a native 4K film.

Which subscriptions deliver live 4K
Here is what each licensed service actually offers in live 4K this fall, and what it costs to get it. Prices are US list prices as of October 2026, before taxes and regional fees.
| Service | Live 4K content | Extra for 4K | Monthly total |
|---|---|---|---|
| YouTube TV | Select events on FOX Sports 4K, ESPN, NBC and others | 4K Plus, $9.99 | $92.98 |
| Fubo | Select sports events, including FOX 4K | None on most plans | from $88.99 |
| Fox One | FOX's 4K NFL and college football games | None | about $19.99 |
| DirecTV (streaming) | Select events | Gemini device | from $89.99 |
| Sling TV | A small number of sports events | None | from $45.99 |
| Hulu + Live TV | None live (some on-demand 4K) | n/a | from $89.99 |
| Philo, Frndly TV | None | n/a | $6.99 to $33 |
Two things stand out. First, the 4K selection depends on the network producing the event more than the service. FOX produces the most 4K football, so any service carrying the FOX 4K feed gets those games. Second, 4K availability is announced week by week. Check the service's 4K row or "4K" badge in the guide before kickoff.
Native 4K vs upconverted: what you're getting
This is the fact nobody selling a "4K subscription" mentions. Most live sports labelled 4K in the US are produced in 1080p with HDR, then upconverted to a 4K signal. FOX's football coverage works this way, and so do most ESPN 4K telecasts.
Is that worth paying for? Usually yes, and here's why. The upconversion is done at the network with good equipment, and HDR (wider brightness and color range) is often the bigger visible upgrade. A 4K HDR feed also tends to be sent at a higher bitrate than the standard HD stream, so fast motion and grass texture hold up better. You get a cleaner picture, not a fundamentally different one.
Native 4K, shot with 4K cameras end to end, is rarer: select marquee events and some on-demand content. If the broadcast doesn't say "native", assume it's upconverted.

Service by service verdicts
YouTube TV with 4K Plus
$82.99 base plus $9.99 for 4K Plus. The add-on also removes the three-stream cap at home and lets you download DVR recordings, so it's more than a picture upgrade.
Pick this if you want the widest mix of 4K sports across networks and you'll use the extra home streams. Skip it if you only care about one league or one network; a cheaper single-network app may cover it.
Fubo
From $88.99 for Pro after mid-2026 price rises tied to NBCUniversal channels returning. 4K events come with the plan on supported devices.
Pick this if you watch a lot of sports and don't want a separate add-on bill. Skip it if you need TNT, TBS or other Warner channels; Fubo doesn't carry them.
Fox One
FOX's own streaming service, about $19.99 a month, includes the FOX 4K feed on 4K-capable devices. That covers FOX's NFL and college football games in 4K for a fraction of a full bundle.
Pick this if your team's games are mostly on FOX, or you want 4K NFL Sundays cheaply. Skip it if you need ESPN, NBC or CBS games in the same app.
DirecTV (streaming)
From $89.99. 4K events play on DirecTV's own Gemini streaming box, which supports 4K, Dolby Vision and HDR10+ and is leased monthly.
Pick this if you also need a regional sports network and like a cable-box-style remote. Skip it if you don't want another device fee.
Hulu + Live TV, Sling, Philo
Hulu + Live TV has no live 4K; its 4K is on-demand. Sling has offered a handful of sports events in 4K at no charge, but not a regular schedule. Philo and Frndly have none. These are fine services, just not the right purchase if 4K is the reason you're shopping.
Not ready to commit? Sling has no contract: pay month to month and cancel online anytime.

A 4K subscription only works if every link in the chain supports it.
A 4K TV with an HDCP 2.2 HDMI port. Most TVs sold since 2017 have one, but not always on every input. Use the port labelled 4K or HDR.
A 4K-capable streamer, with the app's 4K support. Apple TV 4K, Google TV Streamer, Roku Ultra, Fire TV Stick 4K Max and recent smart TVs all handle 4K. The catch is that each app decides which devices get its 4K feed. Apple TV 4K is the device most often named in 4K event announcements; check the service's help page for your model.
A 4K-capable cable. A "high speed" or "premium high speed" HDMI cable. If you use a soundbar or AV receiver in between, it must pass through 4K HDR too.
Correct settings. Set the streamer's output to 4K and HDR. Many ship set to "auto", which sometimes picks 1080p on older TVs.
Our 4K setup checklist walks through each of these in order.
Internet you need
Plan on 25 Mbps per 4K stream, sustained, not just as a speed test peak. Two 4K streams plus normal household use means 75 to 100 Mbps is a comfortable floor.
Speed is rarely the real problem. Wi-Fi is. A 4K stream that drops below its target bitrate for a few seconds will step down to HD, and you may not notice until a big play looks soft. Use Ethernet for the main TV if you can, or at least a 5 GHz or 6 GHz Wi-Fi connection with the router in the same room.
Data caps matter too. 4K live sports can use several gigabytes per hour. A season of Sunday 4K games adds up on a capped plan.
Why "20,000 channels in 4K" is fake
Search for "4K IPTV subscription" and the top results promise thousands of 4K channels for $10 to $25 a month. Set aside the legal question and look at the physics: there are not thousands of live channels producing 4K in the US. Even the biggest licensed services have a handful of 4K feeds that turn on for specific events.
When a seller lists "4K" next to every channel, they are relabelling HD streams or upscaling them on their own servers, often at a low bitrate that looks worse than a clean HD feed. Combine that with a price far below what channel owners charge, lifetime plans, and payment by crypto or gift card, and you are looking at an unlicensed service. Those streams can vanish mid-game, and you have no one to ask for a refund.
A licensed 4K subscription is narrower and costs more. It is also real.
Our pick by sport
NFL on FOX, cheapest: Fox One. FOX's 4K games for about $19.99 a month, and you can cancel after the season.
Most 4K sports overall: YouTube TV with 4K Plus at $92.98 a month. It picks up 4K feeds from several networks and the unlimited home streams are a genuine bonus for families.
Sports-first, no add-on: Fubo from $88.99, if you can live without the Warner channels.
Whichever you choose, spend ten minutes on hardware first. A good subscription on a TV set to 1080p is just an expensive HD subscription.
Quick answers
Is there a live TV subscription with all channels in 4K? No. Licensed US services offer 4K on selected live events, mostly sports, not on every channel.
How much does YouTube TV 4K cost? The 4K Plus add-on is $9.99 a month on top of the $82.99 base plan, so $92.98 in total. It also adds unlimited streams at home and offline DVR downloads.
Does Fubo have 4K? Yes, on select live sports events, included with most plans on supported devices. Plans start at $88.99 a month for Pro.
Is 4K sports on TV real 4K? Usually not native. Most US 4K sports are produced in 1080p HDR and upconverted, which still looks cleaner than standard HD thanks to HDR and higher bitrate.
What internet speed do I need for 4K live TV? About 25 Mbps per 4K stream, sustained. A wired connection to the main TV is the most reliable way to keep the 4K feed from dropping to HD.
Does Hulu + Live TV stream in 4K? Not for live channels. Its 4K content is limited to some on-demand titles.
Are cheap 4K IPTV subscriptions legal? Offers of thousands of 4K channels for a few dollars a month are not licensed. No legitimate service has that many 4K feeds, and the low price means rights aren't being paid for.
4K event lists change weekly and depend on device support in each app. Prices are US list prices before taxes, promotions and regional fees; Fox One's price is based on its published launch pricing. Checked October 2026.
